This year's annual awards banquet at the Deep Cove Yacht club was the best one ever! There was a potluck dinner, a slideshow with loads of pictures, and a live band. This year we split up most of the nominated awards into male and female categories. About 150 people attended in total. Go here for a list of award recipients.

Junior Achievement Recipients of our Junior Achievement Program certificates for the year. Certificates were handed out for various levels of water sports including basic, slalom, trick, jump, barefoot, and wakeboarding. Audience Part of the audience during the junior achievement certificate presentation.
Audience Another part of the audience. Most Improved Junior Skiers Most improved junior skiers Natasha Corewyn, Cody Staley, and Emillie Johnson. The award was presented by Paul Fraser.
Junior Skiers of the Year Paul Fraser presented junior skiers of the year Robbie Paterson and Emillie Johnson with their awards. Most Improved Skiers Most improved skiers of the year Janna Brain and Ian Harder accept their awards from Paul Fraser.
Skier of the Year Skier of the year award went to Barry McKnight and Courtney Paterson, who accept their trophy from Paul Fraser. Member of the Year Member of the Year award was presented to the Staley family by Paul Fraser.
New Member of the Year The New Member of the Year award went to the Wainman family, presented by Paul Fraser. Extreme Skier of the Year Paul Fraser presents the Extreme Skier of the Year award to Robbie and Courtney Paterson.
Earl and Ken Matheson Outstanding Achievement Award The Earl and Ken Matheson Outstanding Achievement Award was created this year to recognize individuals who break provincial water sports records. Club cofounder and lifetime member Earl Matheson presents it to the first recipients Jessica (left) and Melissa Long (right). BCWSA Most Improved Skier Doug Brain presents Clarissa Long with a plaque for the BCWSA most improved athlete of the year in the girls 3-event category.
Barge Plaque Johnny Katona and Paul Wilson are presented with a plaque by Barry McKnight for their efforts in renovating the club barge. Kids Camp Video Michael Long showed his appreciation to Kids Camp coordinators Louise Harder and Sharon Gurney (not present) by presenting them with a video of the camp that he created.
Work in Progress After the main awards, the band Work in Progress began. These guys were excellent, filling the dance floor. Matt Larsen Everyone was a bit shy to hit the dance floor on the very first song. Al that is, except for Matt Larsen!

Most Enthusiastic Member When the band took a break the fun awards started. Natasha and Ric Corewyn are presented with the Most Enthusiastic Member award by Ian Harder. Best Supervisor Rob Elliot receives the Best Supervisor award from Barry McKnight for his excellent supervision skills during the fighting of the Brighton Beach fire.
Dudley Award The Dudley Award this year went to Steve and Clive Mynott for their perilous boat driving skills. Den Mother Den Mother Louise Harder received her award from Sue Brain for doing so much for the clubhouse this year.
Invisible Member Paul Wilson presents the Invisible Member of the Year to invisible new member Kevin Frank. Paul congratulated him on being such a great member, for not using one iota of club resources during the year... no toiler paper, scotch tape, or anything. We need more members like this! Don Langford Award Don Langford received the Don Langford Anal Award for the second year for his obsession with keeping the equipment room in order. Lorne Staley presents Don with his award.
