In response to a request from the District of North Vancouver Firefighters and the Burn Unit to provide a few boats and drivers for a function in Lions Bay, Barry McKnight invited the group to our site for a day. They accepted and are very glad that they did. They provided the food and the safety crews and we provided the gear, the boats and the instruction for the fifty plus kids and adults that attended. The Barge proved it's value by handily moving a group of 34 people.
Like the kids who come to our club from the Big Brothers and Kiwanis organizations, these kids have had experiences that we can only imagine and probably don't want too. For most of these young people, the evidence is before your eyes. It is a small thing that we do for them but if we can make them laugh and show them a good time with friendship thrown in, maybe we are helping them more than we are ourselves.
Thanks to Barry McKnight Liette Johnson, Sue Brain, The Staley family with special thanks to Cody and David, Paul Kallio, John Katona, Courtney and Robbie Paterson and Stevie Mynott. Member support for events like this is what makes the VWSC special.
