2002 Photos - Disabled Ski Day

August 17

Disabled Ski Day was a first for our club, and hopefully one that will become a yearly event. There were numerous physically and mentally challenged participants along with their families. Bonnie Friesen from the Vancouver Parks Board coordinated the families and provided food for everyone including club volunteers. They Parks Board provided a special 'sit ski' adapted with a couple of outrigger skis to enable many to experience the thrill of towed sports that wouldn't normally have the opportunity. A couple of lifeguards were in the water constantly helping people in and out of the ski, and encouraging those that had apprehensions of being in the water. Everyone had a great time and the weather was excellent! Photos by Ian Harder and Ric Corewyn.
